The buzz

Athenaeum ! MMmmm ... it started off in 2007 as a pet project of CECMAR. They never thought there would be another. In 2008, it came up again and this time well organized and as an important event.
2009, no doubts this time. There is no doubt about it. Athenaeum is gonna be back , and with a bang. On 14th and 15th of February.
Like our professor said, we're celebrating our love for knowledge on valentines day with Athenaeum! :D
The preparations have started last year, and have been going on full swing for the past 5 months! Guess that tells us something, this is no small deal.
Committees and lists, new ideas formatting the old, phone calls, personal visits, designing, financing, delegating, choosing, and so much more work has already gone into this big event. It does make one want to sit up and look forward to what's coming up!
The students of the host College are themselves presenting a few papers, time for which they've fantastically managed among the organization and the accademic demands !
Hats off to the CECMAR team.
All the very best to the grand success of Athenaeum '09

Athenaeum 2009 ~ Eagerly awaited !

With our heads held high, everyone here in BIM is waiting for the first big thing in 2009.. and guess what, a confluence of management academia - Athenaeum ! I asked what management is. And my friend told me it’s all about planning, organizing, leading and controlling. But a typical B-school life indicates there is much more into it! Of course that’s what we are trying to figure it out in these two years  And here comes the pinnacle of all that!!

Athenaeum, meaning Goddess of Wisdom in Greek, is all set to wipe out greek n latin in Management. When I say that there are 50 delegates (including many from abroad) coming to deliberate on a wide range of topics in management for two days, you would agree with how perfectly has been named ;)

A showcase of scholarly work… or a Forum for knowledge exchange.. whatever way you call it, it’s fittingly benefitting us!!

So it’s on February 14th & 15th, we are gonna meet some big names(surprises awaited ;) ) from industry with an assembly of very special delegates in Trichy.

A big event, much bigger this time.. that’s Athenaeum 2009!!

Cheers!!!

What's Athenaeum?

Centre for Contemporary Management Research(CECMAR) at BIM has always been a podium for new ventures and a souvenir of success stories. As a part of the centre’s activities ATHENAEUM – An Annual Symposium is all set to unfold its wings. The CECMAR, among its many research endeavors bring out a quarterly journal of scholarly articles, papers starting from 2007. This blog is attempted to post the readers with all updates regarding Athenaeum '09. To begin with, this prelude details about Athenaeum.

Athenaeum is derived from the Greek “Athenion”, the temple of Goddess Athena. Athena is the Goddess of Wisdom and of course Civilization itself. The “Athenion” temple of ancient Greece also symbolized the place where scholars congregated to deliberate and nurture Philosophy and Thought.

The Athenaeum at BIM is such an endeavour where we plan a confluence of academicians who gather to discuss and deliberate topics on contemporary management research. We have chosen two broad functional themes for this year’s event - Human Resources Management and Systems & IT Management for our two day deliberations.

The process is initiated with a call for research papers from the Academia and Industry. The abstracts received are sent for a blind review to an expert panel of eminent research scholars who are associated with us in advisory and contributory roles. The scholars whose abstracts have been short-listed by the review panel are then requested to formally send in their full papers for a peer review. At the end of the peer review process, the selected papers are short-listed for presentation on the day of the Symposium which will be graced by eminent personalities from the Academic world and the Industry. The event intends to showcase scholarly work from academia and industry on the same platform, providing a professional forum of idea interchange. The deliberations and learnings that are gleaned out of this conference are planned to be published as a compendium of papers by a leading publishing house in the country.

The event is scheduled to be held on Feb 14 '09.
